To stimulate the use of artisanal blown glass and the craft of basketry, we created Craftwork; a series of lights in which we combine wickerwork with colorful mouth-blown glass, visualizing our contemporary view on these beautiful crafts.

Together with Esmé Hofman and van Tetterode we went in search of new applications for these ancient materials. The cool, smooth surfaces of the glass and the warm natural texture of the reed contrast. These opposites draw and reconcile, despite their differences. The geometrical shapes of the wickerwork act as carriers for the glass, but they also determine the design of the glass. Where the materials now meet, they merge into a new unique entity.
